Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Would Be Great Movies/TV Shows #3

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

Always a dangerous game turning a beloved book into a movie but I still love seeing a favourite story come to life on the big screen. This topic has come up before; here are my first and second wish lists. These are the books I’ve read since which I think would make great movies/TV shows:

Books I’d Like Made Into Movies

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins – A rom-com with lovable characters and beautiful cities. It’s been a while since I saw a good romantic comedy—this could be it!

Unspeakable by Caroline Pignat – Think Titanic but Canadian. Sinking ships look amazing onscreen!

The Ascendance Trilogy by Jennifer A. Nielsen – OK, yes, this series was on my previous list but I really, really want to see it made into a movie.

Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle – With the overlapping storylines, I think this book would make a really cute holiday movie—think Love Actually.

In the Shadows by Kiersten White and Jim Di Bartolo – I would love to see how the story plays out onscreen, especially since half the book is in wordless illustrations. I feel like it would have kind of a LOST style with the flashbacks.

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver – Trying to figure out how Sam is going to right everything she’s wronged would make for an intense two hours. Even while reading this one, I thought it would make a great movie.

Sisters of Blood and Spirit by Kady Cross – Dark and a bit twisted, this story of twins—one alive, one a ghost—would be awesome on the big screen.

Books I’d Like Made Into TV Shows

The Portia Adams Adventure series by Angela Misri – Given that each book is made up of several mysteries, this Sherlockian series seems ready-made for TV.

His Dark Assassins trilogy by Robin Lafevers – Another from a past list. I’ve since finished the trilogy and my vote on this one still stands. It would make an amazing, kick-ass TV series.

The Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent – With the breadth of characters and storylines I think this would make a great TV show in the vein of Supernaturals or Buffy.

Which books would you love to see come to life on the big or small screen? Share your answers in comments.

These titles are all available from The Book Depository.
